  • You're very good with languages, I already kwew that from previous videos :)

btw...what's the real purpose here? I mean are you asking to British people, americans or to anybody anywere in general how they read those words with their own accent?

  • Well I saw it first on Dari's channel applesandmustard, and there she titled it "accents", so I guess that may be the point then. :)

since it's a French town, it should be pronounced in proper French: Neuf Orléans. If you check Google Earth, you will find that there is actually a town by the name of Orléans in France.

  • everyone (including me) from new orleans pronounces it nwa-lins. its not just u tho most people from around our nation say it weird

  • I don't know why this is...we usually laugh when tourists from up north like Chicago or places like California come around...and say New Orleans...it sounds so nerdy.....

Alot of people say that residents of New Orleans sound similar to New York City residents because of the slight whiny sound when speaking...or maybe its nasal sounding........

My mom always gets mistaken for a New Yorker...its very noticeable I guess!

  • OK......I am from New Orleans.............and the way the natives say it, is very different then how outsiders say it...........people from outside New Orleans say it exactly how you said it........

But people from New Orleans especially my mom and dad ...and the older generation.....say it like...."Nu Wolins" *American pronunciation, not German*

  • Yeah that was pretty accurate, except it was with sort of a British accent. I'll make a video response saying them as well if people want a second opinion :P

  • LOL
