In this video we get a little more detailed as to what daily life consists of for truck drivers. We learn about "Macros"... Simply put, they are just "canned statements" that Swift as put together to make communication easy. Although some are as easy and clicking a few buttons and pressing send, others require just a little more detail. This is what goes on behind the scenes for trucker's everyday life routine. I know it can be overwhelming but I hope you enjoy the video anyways... Your boy E

  • i used to do qualicom and it wasent to bad but i my fredom i like being independant i like dealing with customers direct i like my 75 mph pete :P i couldent handle 60 i could use some owner ops i have a couple dedicated customers and you cant get rich but if you work hard you can make ok money its not to bad but if id have to start in this economy i wouldent be able to do it to much stuff to know and its just insane with all the ruels and crap

  • @arturdrozdz297374 yeah i have been hearing about all the different stuff that DOT and government has been changing in the truck industry, and I am sure some is good and some is bad. But for a new guy like me, I was fortunate (or unfortunate depending on how you look at things) to jump in and learn the new stuff, so I don't feel the effects as bad. I hope you adapt well :) thx for the comment.. ps I would like a pete that rolls 75mph haha -E

  • that would drive me nutz all that to get a dam load lol

  • @arturdrozdz297374 I hear ya.. but in the end its just like clockwork. By now its just 2nd nature and I bang through the macros pretty quick :) you would be the same Im sure given if you had lots of practice :) (but I defiantly hear ya haha)

  • Wow swift's QC setup is annoying, I like werner's better -- much simpler and it's tied to your logs/does electronic logging so dispatch knows exactly what your log book says at any given time.

  • @killer2600 don't know much about how werner's maybe you can do a video so we can see the difference… I think its just a matter on what you are trained on… to me this Qual is pretty easy by now to function, but I would not doubt other places have better products … :) thx for the comment -E

  • Holy Crap Yo! my head is spinning after this, but I do believe Ill get it. Do you think it would be good to do paper logs with the electronic just to have back up?

  • @killer2600 I also forgot werner's directions are more detailed by listing turn by turn directions, even telling you how many miles you travel before the next direction. Also I didn't mention but if you want to give dispatch an ETA to the shipper you can reply to the ld info and put in your trl # and plate, your ETA, and if your going to be on time or not. But it's optional as dispatch knows where you are, how long it'll take, and how many hours your logbook shows.

  • @yourboyethetrucker I wish I could do a video, but I don't work for werner anymore. We used the MCP200 just like you have there but werner has less macros since they don't do all the PTA. For your scenario, I'd get up and already have the load info, if not I'd send an avail for load macro and put in a Y. Getting an empty from the term. is assumed and you just have to put in a "I have trl __" mac. Then you can do a mac 8 (duty status change) to line 3 and roll to the shp, no pprwrk or log book.

  • @domino817 the reason why I did that was to let them know I was at my final (picking up my assigned empty) and ready to receive the rest of my trip details. Its 1,2,5&6 for the empty… THEN… its off to the shipper for the actual load.. you know what I mean? if not I'll try and break it down again :) thx for watching bro
