I was one of the kids in the classroom IN this movie who threw paper balls at her head a few years ago. I never bothered to watch this film when it was finished. But here I am in college losing faith & hope acting like school was jail. I thought about this movie the other day and watched it the whole way through tonight. Thanks to this movie, I now realize that school can be a life changing experience if looked at in a brightly lit frame of mind. 2months and I'm finished, I CAN get through this!

I love this part cause she acctually had a perfect smile on her face and acctually looks happy . The beginning made me cry . Im watching this movie in financial literacy class i school , but i was crying it made me sad that this little girl went through that and ha to take care of herself be a grown up at the age of 8 thats when she got a job . Well all i got to say is if she can get through that with no one cause she didnt have anyone helping her , than we of course can get through anything .

@nickyinpink0324 she transferred to Colombia University in NY to attend to her sick father, after his death, she transferred back to Harvard and finished her education...
-
@Helena74 The real Liz Murray played a social worker in the movie.

@nickyinpink0324 I read that she had a touch time with the environment at Harvard and she kept taking time off from school because of her father who was dying & her speaking engagements. She did graduated from Harvard and she's in grad school I believe.

how was she able to study at a different college knowing her financial situation?

why she left Harvard? she didnt like it?
I was homeless once, by choice because rent in Australia is Fucking ridiculous, you learn about yourself and what you are capable of - it brought out the best in me living in my car, drinking rain water while i worked and swapping stories with aborigines who lived that way full time, I worked hard on the mines, bought properites and the realestate skyrocketed - I'm now a millionare and Ive seeen the world on a budget - but I will never forget: starving/tempation to give up, i am 27

My advise : stay positive and Healthy - replace junk food with health food - save money boost esteme - excercise and sleep regulary - have a friend - for 3 months I had only a three legged stray dog I fed I called him rusty - but most all, DO NOT DO ALCOHOL! DO NOT DO DRUGS! I saw money and men wasted away on these things - alcohol costs money and its used as a crutch, its tempation in a bad way - its unhealthy & dehydrates you -drink water instead and milk for calcium and be open about problems
