  • Did the watermelon mature seriously in a box?

  • Yes seriously they did mature. My biggest obstacle was the bugs that also love watermelon. I used the sugarbaby variety which is a smaller sweet watermelon. I will definitely plant them again this year so you can check back to see the progress on it if you like.

  • i use a plant call confrey for organic feed itsa weed and grows wild here. i pick it and put it in my waterbut. and for bug control we use mild organic washingup liquid and for slug and snails we use brown beer in jar lids its work for us over 35 years and its all organic feed and pest control nice vid thanks for sharing. ;)

  • Thanks for the advice.

  • Thanks for the feedback. I will definitely give the peppers a little shake. The squash I think has just run it's course. It was a early variety called pattypan and put out lots of sguash for me. I cut out some of the dead vines and it seems to be perking up just a bit so we will see what happens. I did not notice any activity of the dreaded VB

  • I guess it depends on how you look at things.

I think $30 per box is reasonable for what I get in return. I dont spend any time weeding, I get a great crop, and you can't beat the ease. Plus you can reuse it year after year

I'll take it any day over inground!

  • Now I know what I can do with my son's car....use it for a trellis.

  • one more thing.. on the bell peppers, sometimes heat makes the pollen too gooey to fall down and pollinate the other flowers.. so just gently tap the plant daily and that should increase fruit production! I love your gardenboxes!

  • Hey!on your squash, looks like it might be the vine borer. look at the base, see a hole where it might have bored in? they leave shavings when boring the hole. You have to find him INSIDE the vine, catch and kill him...cant use pesticides.. If its bacterial, dont plant squash in that box nxt yr. If it's not those things, watch the waterin.. inconsistent watering causes yellowing. also..a deficiency in the soil of iron or nitrogen can be a cause of yellowing.but looks like the vine borer..

  • Love how you're repurposing your son's car as a trellis...:) lol! Can't believe how the corn and cucumbers shot up like that. I wish I could find place near me that sells EB's for $30. I was going to get few this year but the only place that sells them here was selling for $50...with no soil! I had to give up that dream this year. I'll buy online next year. Thx for sharing your awesome EB garden!
