The reason why Frollo went to the Festival of Fools even though he hated the gypsies was because he was a public official so it was pretty much an obligation. He said so before his and Quasi's song.

@3brerfox I know, right?
And with Hunchback of Notre Dame, though it has some beautiful music, as NC pointed out, it is WAY too dark a story to Disney-fy. Also, they REALLY messed with the storyline...big time. Esmeralda actually dies in the novel and doesn't wind up with Phoebus or "betray" Quasimodo. It's a sadder ending, but Frollo dies too and the gypsies and people of Paris are triumphant against Frollo and kill him too.

I just need to say that this is the best animated movie of all time, better than the Lion King, Finding Nemo, Toy Story trilogy or Shrek, it just have all the things that a animated film need to have

@LeonSKennedy828 I swear the gargoyles trio from the Gargoyles TV Series Brooklyn, Broadway, and Lexington are way cooler and hotter than these three idiots!

BEST DISNEY MOVIE EVER

@ThePurplePriest I'm sooooooooo glad you lyk the soundtrack too, it has to be the best ever! Hellfire was voted the darkest Disney song and the studio itself never makes this kind of film anymore
The modern day disney films are just....... crap, I mean they lack a good story, emotion and passion and they should do something original instead of just taking fairytales and revamping them in their own image, but this film is EXCELLENT probably disney's best moment

The reason for the gargoyles was to make the movie more kid friendly, without it this movie would have had some difficulties with rating

About Tum Hulce's sing... Give him some credit NC! That's Alan Menken's work! It is not easy to sing!

I never even thought about the gypsies being confusing. I already pretty much knew what a gypsy was. But it's true, I didn't really understand this movie at all when I was a kid. I guess what I REALLY didn't understand was Frollo's motivations. I didn't know about religion, I didn't know about lust... he was just a weird old man doing weird, weird things to my tiny little mind.

@CherryFairy02 yea, no kidding. It's sad how people always jump to conclusions, isn't it?
Has anyone noticed that people criticize Disney when characters don't die, and get accuse Disney of being namby-pamby, but when characters like Mufasa and Bambi's mom DO die, Disney's a horrible, childhood-trauma inducing bastard? Double standard much?

I really like both the book and the movie. I actually read the book first and loved it so much, and then after hearing the music of the movie I decided I had to see it; certainly, I have to take them as different works altogether, but that isn't going to stop me from loving them.
