Report of VITV on France - Vietnam experience sharing in geographic information

The French Trade Commission UBIFRANCE in Vietnam, in collaboration with the Department of Survey and Mapping of Vietnam, organized the first Franco-Vietnamese geographic information meetings which mobilized a delegation of five French companies recognized internationally for their know- how (Astrium, Group FIT, IGN France International, Maestro Wireless Solutions and SAFT).
The highlight of these meetings took the form of a seminar "Challenges and prospects of geographic information in Vietnam: exchanges of experiences France - Vietnam", which gathered on the 5th of April 2011 around these five French companies and under the patronage of the Ambassador of France to Vietnam (Mr. Jean-François Girault) and the Vice-Minister of Natural Resources and Environment (Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Linh) more than 70 Vietnamese experts. This seminar has helped to launch a new dynamic between France and Vietnam on this very specific area. The actors have also reiterated their strong desire to see the links between the two countries in the upstream of the sector (in mapping and earth observation) to translate into new business and technology partnerships.
