yes he wanted people to experience silence, but even silence isn't the same for everyone. Each one would experience something different during this time, exactly because music is a subjective and multilateral concept.

You seem really arrogant pretending you know his exact intentions. Music is art and art is to be interpretated and I exposed my interpretation, only that.

If you don't agree that's your point of view, but i guess you missunderstood what i said anyway. When I said his/her own music I didn't mean the person will imagine a music he likes, I meant Cage wanted to prove everything can be considered music and each individual would feel silence in a different way.

GamaMagnum... your response is completely wrong. John did not want "each one to create his/her own 'music' during this time," it was truly meant to be the sound of nothing. It was John's favorite sound, and he wanted people to experience silence... nothingness.

I knew John very well, and I've discussed this piece with him numerous times. Don't assume what you don't know.

silence as an idea not in a concrete way...Cage wanted each one to create his/her own "music" during this time, because he is trying to show music is a subjective concept and doesn't belong only to its author.

anw, it seems we can't call our society "disgusting" nowadays that we already receive a negative point in the comment...funny though.
