  • this sounds like something a magical nordic girl would be singing while pacing naked through a forest... except it's not a forest it's outer space.

  • @dmfishface2 Trust me if Asobi Seksu was a derivative of M83 I would be riping into them too. But they don't sound like a M83 rip off band. They don't have the cinematic 80's 90's element M83 has taken and reinvented to properly innovate a unique new sound. Asobi vocals are all over their music and don't have the M83 synth sound at all. There are going to be M83 derivatives out there and I will be calling them on it too, but really I don't see how you think this band is derivative of M83.

  • @dmfishface2 And the spiralling guitar that is spinning like a droning buzzing bee hive in this song was a trademark shoegaze thing Slowdive was known for and other original early shoegaze bands, not originaly an M83 inovated sound. So that was clearly was a sound that slowdive had long before M83 was even around. So if you really want to say who took what, well it was way before M83. But M83 are not a derivative of Slowdive and Asobi is not derivative of M83.

  • @dmfishface2 Right and those two albums sound nothing alike. They both share similarities in that they are shoegaze and dream pop inspired bands, but to be a derivative the really would have to hit you on the head so much that you could pull out all the stops on tracks that were blatant copies. There's not really anybody that can do it like M83 out there, they have really put their own twist on it, TeamGhost is close but that is the original other half of M83 from their early albums that split

  • @dmfishface2 Your not defining derivative properly. tell me where M83 has singing vocals like this for one. This band clealry has it's own style. derivative is when it is a duplicated blatant copy of songs and band and just bad for it's obvious stealing of exact styles so much so it would be undeniable, I would say this bad is more inspired by shoegaze like Slowdive and MBV. Ringo Deathstarr is an obvious band that is derivative of shoegaze, like MBV,Primitives,JAMC but too much like.

  • @IronyTheOh This album was 2006, Dead Cities Red Sea was 2003.

  • @dmfishface2 they formed the same year as M83 so dunno how you worked that out

  • pffft.. M83 knock off = derivative hipster garbage. No surprise coming from NYC. Also, listening to "shoegaze" should feel like drugs when you're not on drugs. This feels like cheez whiz. Vote this comment down but you all know its true.

  • DAMNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!! AWESOMEEEEEEEE!!!

  • ok, i've found a new favorite band.

  • @yesoness a buen hambre no hay pan duro
