This video is the final test of an EL Wire suit. Two identical costumes were made by Adrian G. and Luke O. The suits took about a week of sewing and soldering to create. For more projects check out domalley.wordpress.com and miters.mit.edu!

  • you guys did a great job. the outline of the brim and the buttons are nice touches.

but man, you gotta dance with an outfit like that. c'mon.

battery + arduino? could you wear it out? or are you jacked into a computer?

  • @jazgold Thanks for positive feedback! The suit is completely self contained. We aren't plugged into the computer or any kind of outlet. The inverter that we are using has a microphone element who's sensitivity can be adjusted. The suit responds to all ambient noises, but on the lower settings becomes primarily reactive to bass.

  • Where did you buy the el wire and connecors/drivers??

  • @toverweg We bought all of our EL wire from Thatscoolwire [dot] com. They seem to be a reputable company and everything was shipped out and received quickly. We went with their Blue-Green EL wire and sound activated inverter. Let me know if that helps.

  • @jeprachaun can i ask how much it cost all together because im trying to do something similar with shoes i just need to find our where i can buy cheap el wire

  • @258kick The whole project cost around $125-$150. The bulk of that though was for the clothing that we modified.

  • Were is the sound inverter for the hat hidden? All the sound inverters I seen are big and bulky? Or is the ht connected to the suit were the sound inverter is?

  • @jeprachaun ... nice. i was in a dance thesis project in college where a dancer used a stick-figure-glow-lit suit to good effect... but making it reactive to sound is a whole other level. hot. if it hasn't been dismantled and you want to test it out on some real dancers (hip hop or modern), let me know:)

  • Please shuffle lol that would be so cool
