I like To Kill a Mockingbird.
My favourite quote from the novel is a p. lame one: "Ladies seemed to live in faint horror of men, seemed unwilling to approve whole heatedly of them. But I liked them. There was something about them, no matter how much they cussed and drank and gambled and chewed; no matter how undelectable they were, there was something about them that I instinctively liked... they weren't-- hypocrites" (234).

So this song was made for my grade 9 English class as my creative representation of To Kill a Mockingbird. This song is pretty much the whole story from Arthur "Boo" Radley's point of view, with clips from the movie. The lyrics were written by myself, and the guitar is thought of and played by Tyler... so pretty much the P. Good Band made the song. Oh hey you should probably look at this page http://www.youtube.com/thepgoodband ... I hear they are p. good!

So here's the story about how this song came to be:
I needed to finish my project and I had one day for the early hand in because I didn't want to have to work on it during may long weekend.
Tyler came over and grabbed the guitar.
I sang a line and asked my brother what key it was in.
Then Tyler played some chords on guitar.
Then I came up with the melody for the words and sang it.
Then we recorded it without practicing, so we didn't know what we were doing.
We got to lazy to make it better.
I edited the clips together.
This totaled 5 hours.
The sound quality is bad because I was singing p. quiet because I didn't turn down the sensitivity on the microphone, so if I sang loud it would have messed it up.
I sound congested.
I'll let you know what I got when I get my mark back.

LYRICS:

One day I disappeared
Trapped in this house for years
I hear whispers of who they think I am
But they dont understand

Someone is by my side
But these tears I still cry
The darkness has become my guide
But then I see the outside

Theres more to life than this
More than just the darkness
I wish that I could leave this cage
But I seem to always be trapped on the same page
If I could just be with them
Out in the light, side by side

They look so happy together
Brother and sister, banter
They play around in the yard
Only to fall and hit the ground hard

If they were in any harm
Id be sure to lend a hand
Theyve become just like my kids
They are better than any gift I could give

[Chorus]

I was looking out my window
Peering in the dark
I heard a noise and caught a spark
Theres something going on
Someones trying to hurt
The people I care about
Theres no doubt of what Ive got to do right now

Theres more to life than this
Theres more they have to see
If it ended for them it would end for me
Because its a sin to kill
Me

[Chorus]

Ive had enough of the outside cold
Its there I feel more alone
So, wont you please take me home?

  • i find it sad that scout says she never see boo again after she walked him home

  • Renny... I just watched your vid on your site and the guitar is competing with thevoc...lower the guitar volume... me rec. Peace...

  • You have passion in your voice... flat at times ... but I cannot sing any better I am sound light s and guitar. If I may suggest, sing from the distance of 3-12 inches ... do not cup the mike with your hand... I have no visual of what you are doing mike wise... no sing lessons here but mike usage... yes ... only you can kill the dream you dream... do NOT GIVE UP!!! Peace to you and your nice selection on the vid... and edit Later...

  • amazing voice so beautiful

  • Hello, just finished re- watching the film again after about 20 years. Loved the song, you made me think about it in a diferent way, Scout was always my favourite though, I must admit i did feel a certain empathy for Boo when his character was revealed at the end of the film.I liked the voice of the singer, but feel that her singing could benifit from some simple training techniques, ie, repeating scales, breathing, ect

  • @kingbercy15

Quit flaming, I think she did a great job singing! And she's right, it's about the lyrics!
