If you hate this movie, you hate America, apple pie, puppies, babies, summer nights on the back porch with a cold glass of lemonade. And baseball.

Check that, A League Of Their Own. In that flick, at one point a black, female character picks up a ball and throws it back to Geena Davis. They allude to the color barrier. It's hard for me, as a baseball fan, to take records set prior to 1947 seriously. Babe Ruth never had to face Page. If he had to face guys like Page from the Negro leagues, he probably doesn't hit 714.

No doubt. That's my point. James Earl Jones makes this passionate, sentimental speech about baseball at one point in the flick. And yet he himself would not have been allowed to play with the players on that Field Of Dreams. And there is no mention of this in the flick whatsoever. In League of their own, they acknowledge this, the color barrier. I just wonder if Jones had any problems with the speech he gave, the obvious irony. To not acknowledge the irony in any way is weird.

Ever heard of the Negro League? They say it was better baseball. Ted Williams said that he would never know how great a player he was because he never played against the best of the Negro League. Look up Satchel Page or Josh Gibson or Cool Papa Bell.

Boy howdy, you must be a mind reader. My worst nightmare is a summer night, a crying baby who won't shutup, a puppy peeing on freshly made apple pie, all taking place on a back porch in America, while this hideous movie is playing.

And all he had to do to maintain the field was cut the friggin grass and turn on the lights. I can see your point. Financially devastating. A light bill from 25 years ago would have wiped him out financially.

hes going to lose it because of the costs of upkeep. Thinking about how much those lights would cost, maintaining the field etc. Fuck people are dense. Great fuckin movie, people are to critical. Thing of beauty.

Ginger: "Ray, just sign the papers."
James Earl Jones: "I find your lack of faith disturbing."
or
Ginger: "Ray, when the bank opens in the morning, they will foreclose."
James Earl Jones: "Remember who you are Simba..."
