@DuchessGloomsville I'm not sure if what you are saying is true but these facts remain - a woman's testimony is half that of a man in islam (according to muhammad, due to her lack of intelligence). Women are the property of men. As for key to heaven, only women whose men are content with them are sent to heaven according to Muhammad. This isn't ignorance, I can give you sources and references if you need.

@Rifaak actually these arab countries which follow Islam gives more rights to women then any other religion does. IF you want to know ask me I will tell you or research. In Islam a daughter is the sacred flower, a mother is the one who holds the key to heaven for her child and a wife is more worthy than a queen to a husband. Please dont start swearing and saying arrogant stuff.

As I write this on 22 January 2012 there are 449 "Thumbs Down". Whether you are "Conservative" or "Liberal" or any other of the multitude of political persuasions; how could you possibly be against equality? Whether this could be enforced or not isn't the point but the Concept is correct. It's like the "Golden Rule" (do unto others as you would have them do unto you). How could anybody be against this in concept? I'm a Conservative/Libertarian and I still could NOT be against this. OMG...

Human rights cause more trouble than they prevent. Those who have had theirs violated probably had it done by someone who will not be stopped by something so artifical as a 'right', think about it, hitler wouldnt have stopped what he was doing if someone told him he was violating human rights. And then you get people who use their rights to advantage, it is perfectly legal now to refuse police searches because some people have bent human rights to do their own bidding. The declaration is useless
