But the cougar was already dead, it had been shot and killed and mule was just playing body. A mule will die very quickly against a cougar. Nope mules can kill lions as well as bears. Anyone who owns them know they can. Heck I know a horse that killed a lion defending her foal -I know own the foal and- he has a huge dent on his neck from the lion. just so you know in the wild horses and mules kill mountain lions all the time. you need to do your research before you make a statement like a mule could never kill a mountain lion. unlike other animals they have feet that are hard and do a lot of damage.

This isn't a horse. Don't you know that farmers all over the world put jackasses and mules in pastures with sheep and goats because they will savagely attack and kill coyotes, dogs and even bobcat and lynx that menace the herd in their pasture? It's not much of a stretch to think a mule would act like a wild jack and protect his "harem". Clearly the cougar is dead, but the behavior isn't beyond the realm of possibility.
