Can't say that I agree with a lot of what you're saying OTT, but I do agree with this statement. And I don't think that you'll find any "tea baggers" being affiliated with the Republican Party. While it's true that we saw some massive spending during the Bush years, what you're seeing now with this socialist government is spending by a government that this country has never seen before.. and THAT is what is bringing this anger to a head.

You're complaining about Bush's spending, which when compared to Obama's was next to nothing, while giving Obama a pass? That makes NO SENSE. The Tea Parties are the result of 100s of thousands of people calling/writing/emailing/faxin­g Bush only to be ignored. Now we're faced w/the likes of Obama, the worst of the worst in terms of spending, and your ilk remain not only silent, but you condemn those who do speak out. Seems you're fine w/spending when done by someone w/a "D" after his name.

Government run healthcare will lead to rationing of healthcare, just as it is in Europe and Canada. Do you want some bureaucrat in gov't deciding you're too old, too young (and why stop there) to receive expensive medical treatments? That is precisely what is happening in Europe. If you think healthcare is expensive now, wait until you see how expensive it becomes once gov't provides it for "free."

Solutions have been provided, aanna...let the dying industries DIE A NATURAL DEATH rather than allowing government to steal your, my and everyone's money to artificially prop them up. Even though distasteful to me, the gov't could have simply stuck w/buying or insuring lenders' toxic assets. Instead, it's actually BUYING stock in our financial and auto industries. Gov't is now part OWNER of them. That is socialism and it not a "solution" as it will cause more problems than it solves.

History is on my side, aanna. Once gov't. controls something, it rarely, if ever, relinquishes that control. You cede that gov't controls the auto industry, etc., but where is the proof that it will relinquish that control?

As for as disputing your claims, you've not really made any other than a claim that "top economists" say the recession is showing signs of slowing. My statement was that we are in a recession, something upon which we apparently agree.

Out of control government spending during the Bush administration is what bankrupted America. Where was your tea bag protest then, when the government grew at a rate never seen in previous administrations? No wonder the republicans are losing the election because it has now become obvious to everyone that besides fear mongering, they are the most hypocrite crybabies.
