This prototype is built of my few old Lego parts from the 80's.
There are a few main points of interest:
1) A piston with short stroke and "overload protection": suspension spring limiting the force, so that nothing is broken in case of heavy load.
2) Gears, converting the speed of the motor down to approx. 30 RPM (a stroke every two seconds).
3) The "box" for the camera.

During testing I found that the battery box placement was also important: it acts as a counter weight for the piston operation. Without the weight the force of the piston will twist or even detach the whole assembly.

Room for improvement: the piston - spring - toothgear assembly should be symmetrical, to avoid bending stress at the joints and the spring.
Also, it would be cool to make the whole thing rotate :)
