Archie Shepp - "The Magic of Ju-Ju" [Part 1 of 2]

One of my absolute favorite "free" / avant-garde jazz pieces, which is why I bothered uploading both parts! It may sound like a chaotic mess if you're unfamiliar with music like this but I find that even at it's most blistering and atonal there's still a great sense of cohesion to it...if you get lost just come back to that hypnotic percussion line and it will all make sense again. Give it a shot! It's only 18 minutes :-p Archie deserves it.

Ha, I've always liked Shepp, have a few LP albums (Four for Trane, Live in San Francisco etc.).

One of my first albums when i thought I was getting hip. Until i met Mr. Shepp and he told me I had to put in at least six hours a day on my ax. Never did, and that was over forty years ago. 1that's why he's an icon, and I'm a poet.
