Camry doing an actual 20-75 or so. 2.4 I4. It was 40 degrees this morning so it was running a little better and it just rolled over to the 200k mark. Couple problems but still going strong for the most part. CAI only thing done. Taken with the LG Revolution.

  • I got a 2002 Toyota Camry SE 4 cyl with 106K miles now and in the morning when I start it up it smokes(see video on my channel) for 3-5 secs but never smokes when warmed up or while driving. The car doesn't burn any oil and everything works great in the car but that smokes worries me sometimes. Does your car smoke in the morning?

  • @PeterGriffin4200 You know thats funny mine does do the same thing, almost everytime i start but thats that little bit of consumption. Leaky seal in head, lets a little oil pool up on top of piston and burns it off when you start it. Obviously the longer it sits between drives the more oil pools. But yeah every couple weeks I would check the oil cause if it smokes for a couple seconds than you got the same problem.

  • @94EglVisionTSI Since when did you have the smoking problem in your Camry? Maybe it is just a tiny pool of oil on piston because I don't see a drastic different in oil levels. Actually it doesn't smoke for that long I might be exaggerating on the time; its for 1-2 sec tops. I bought this 2002 Camry at 99k miles for $5,500 and know I have 106K miles and this is the only issue I have on it and after seeing your Camry with 200k gives me hope for the longevity of my Camry.

  • @PeterGriffin4200 Oh Yeah there great cars, I wouldnt anticipate any problems. Mine smokes for 5-7seconds usually, but its like a quart every 2 months or so for me anyway. Mine was not maintenced properly by the previous owner neither but aside for what i mentioned I replaced a wheel bearing but no other problems. Ive heard some people talk about replacing transmissions butI've had no problems, I think it all depends on your driving habits and how rough you are on the car.

  • @94EglVisionTSI My transmission shifts smooth as silk. I was surprised to find out on the web that people have had transmission problems with the 2002 Camry's because i know a couple of people with the 2002-2003 Camry's that never had any transmission issues but there were issues about oil burning. As a matter of fact I was told today by a Toyota mechanic that his brother has a 2002 Camry with almost 300K miles and it too has been burning oil and smoking at start ups since 100k miles.

  • @PeterGriffin4200 Yeah I've heard real great things about the 2AZ-FE motor, Ive heard the claim there more reliable than the 22R which was in the previous camrys, tacomas, etc. And those were damn near bullet-proof. Yeah when I first noticed the oil burning thing it kind of concerned me but I took a closer look and had a family member check it out and Its just a seal which apparently is pretty common according to what i read.

  • @94EglVisionTSI This 2AZ-FE motor has a timing chain so more noisy and rough then the previous Camry 4cyl engines but that's going to require less maintenance vs a timing belt. I also got a 1994 Camry V6 with 300,000 miles on everything original(engine, tranny, alternator suspension etc) and it runs smoother then my 2002 Camry and has never smoked.

  • @PeterGriffin4200 Transmission seems to be going strong. The engine has had no major problems, it burns maybe a quart every 2 months or so, and for some reason I keep having issues passing an emissions test(Replaced cat once already). But all in all can't complain.

  • Did you ever had engine or transmission problems in this camry?

  • engine is very strong for 200K, Keep her rolling!
