B-52 engines are tougher than airliner engines. Sure they use more fuel, but they resist battle damage and the pressure of high-speed, low-level flying better. Sould one of those 8 little engines get shot out and disintegrate, it will do less damage to the whole aircraft than an exploding bigger one would. That might be why the Air Force still uses 8 little engines instead of 4 larger ones.

Makes my stomach turn to hear the announcer say "Listen and you can hear the sound of freedom." B-52's don't sound like freedom to the innocents getting killed by the bombs dropped on them to steal their oil.
I'm a vet and I love my country, but the military industrial complex and the domestic enemies that have ALREADY conquered us - are not my country and that gang of thieves in DC is not my government.
