This is *not* a toy, gadget, or app. It's an pretty precise and sensitive instrument satisfying the demands of performing professionals.
[For the tech-savvy: Spatial resolution: smaller than 1mm; velocity resolution of the sticks: about 1cm/s at the moment the stick hits the drum membrane (which is 1/1000 of the actual speed at that moment); time resolution: 100 fps. The 4 actual sensors (Qualisys Oqus Infrared 3D Cameras, with Qualisys QTM Realtime Protocol) are hidden innocently between the stage lights at a distance of 5-8 m above and beside center-stage.
The instrument itself - in the configuration customized for Mr. Kappenstein - has a total of 72 velocity-controllable samples scatteres in mid-air, yet, he knows exactly where they are and what to do with them...]
