  • I always liked M.M. Murphey's version, I've gotta say I love how Hoyt has his way with it! Great song sung by a great singer! Hey, Is Hoyt Axton in either the country or R&R hall of fame, if not he damned well should be!

  • @9erfandex I know that he and his mother were inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame after they died. Not sure if he's in any others.

  • Love seeing all of these new songs to me, never knew how great he was.

  • @JettRink50 Gonna be uploading the other half of the A&M Years album in the next few weeks or so, just have to convert it all to video.

  • It is. I always thought Hoyt wrote it too but seems MM Murphey did. Hoyt does a better job, IMHO. He was born in Oklahoma in 1938 where Geronimo had died only 30 years before (by a riding accident or he'd still be going on) so I expect the subject was dear to him. Hoyt Axton should be remembered for a lot more than he is. He died on my birthday and it almost did me in. What a guy he was.

  • This is good, but i still like Cher's version better.

  • I first heard Hoyt in 1974 and instantly became a fan. In 1975 I was fortunate to see him at the Commodore BallRoom in Vancouver BC. I have seen a lot of acts from Jefferson Airplane,Led Zepplin. Doors,Clash Police Bon Jovi CCR on and on. But seeing and listening to Hoyt was one of the best concerts I have ever experienced. His personality was as warm as his voice. Excellent performer backed up by excellent players. So sad that he passed..

  • Way cool, I've been looking for this one for a long time. Actually had this on a 45 way back in the late 70s, One of only 2 C/W recordings I ever bought. Thanks!

  • @smilingburrito lol, cool man, glad you like it and thanks for the reply. I forgot about this but wondered if anyone would find use of the comment. I've watched that performance literally over 30 time, I absolutely love it and miss Hoyt dearly. If you feel like it, feel free to write the guys behind that site, I did once to thank him and that's how I found out it was Hoyt's boy and a friend who ran it. Cheers again and God bless Hoyt and his fans!

  • @davidseawa Wow. I can't thank you enough for that.

  • Thanks for posting these. He was my favorite part of Gremlins but that was all I knew him from.

  • Give a listen to Jim Ringer and Mary McCaslin doing Geronimo's Cadillac, it's special.

  • Go Hoyt

  • You guys gotta hear the live version. I especially like it on Austin City Limits. Actually that whole performance is awesome and I can't link it here but his Son put it up on his site. Google Lifemachineinc (exactly, don't let google "suggest" another spelling) and you'll find the whole thing on his Son's site under the video tab. Cheers guys
