Rival leaders in Lebanon have cast aside their differences to end an 18 month political feud that had driven the country to the brink of civil war.

Arab leaders in Qatar helped forge a deal between the western-backed government, and the Hezbollah-led opposition.

Al Jazeera's Zeina Khodr reports on the Lebanese reaction to the deal.

  • peace to all lebanese, and all living creatures.

  • This is an agreed deal planned by the Arabs, it does'nt bring sectarian peace. Just as the Syrian regeime put every president during its 30 year occupation in power, now the Arabs put Sleiman in power. Hizbollah is still a secondary government with its heavey military arsenal, the vote is not based on the democratic decision of the peoples and the parliment is undecided. I think hizbollah is a catalyst for a war to be planned in 3.5 years time which will spark the downfall of a great superpower.

  • tfiiiiiiiiiii 3laykon you are all liars

  • Big Big victory for Nasrallah and Hezballah

  • We want war. When our children are killed that is the best propaganda against the Sunni dingos that kill us. Dead women are also good propaganda. People feel sorry for them. We know that is the will of Allah to show what animals we are fighting. Allah will show them no mercy.

A faithful servant of Allah the merciful.

  • fight I think ur an undercover Israeli...Hezballah is a resistance by and for the Lebanese people. If u have a problem with it go join the terror network of the IDF. No power to Iran or Syria annnnddd no power to America and Israel. thats why its called a unity government dipshit

  • Inkan I was in Beirut during that time...they prevented the bar from opening because the whole city was shut down... the bar wouldnt have made any money because downtown was closed and sealed off...

  • Israel continues to interfere with Lebanese water sources & threaten war over LEBANESE Wazzani & Hasbani rivers, without Hezballah, helps protect UNIFIL & even US embassys from Al Queda attacks, the Bush administration's decision to disarm Hezballah is an ISRAELI decision to help Israel not the people of Lebanon. Israel is violating UN resolutions today not Hezballah, America supports Israel...who are the real terrorists ehm...you

  • Instead of focusing on Hezballah's garbage weapons we should be focusing on America and Israel's weapons which kill people by the millions ;) We should focus on the million cluster bombs supplied by the U.S to Israel & used against innocent Lebanese. Hezballah came into existence as a result of illegal Israeli aggression. Hezballah is and will always be a resistance. The Lebanese government supports Hezballah keeps the US from repeating the 1982-83 US intervention and disaster.

  • its said that Hezballah protects its people better than our own nation can...Hezballah doesnt fight for religion it fights for a people internationally it is recognized as a resistance. And it is a stability force in the Middle East it brings security to the people of South Lebanon. Their "crap" as u put it, was they were against a government that didnt unify the population...I wouldnt call that crap, I would call the government preventing unity...crap.

  • hezbollah wasnt forcing religion on people... its good that they're done with their crap now

  • we lebanese dont want war.. we just want to live.. any deal to stop the fighting was good.

i cant wait to go back to lebanon this summer!!! its gonna be one of the best summers
