Destruction/Chaos/Magus.crr

=EDIT=
Newest version of the game has seen very large improvements to the Magus, and most other classes. The Rank 10 armor sets are no longer availible, as they allowed players to be entirely too powerful in the tier 1 zones.

Career Counterpart: Dwarf Engineer

The Magus
With the knowledge of Tzeentch, the magus can summon and command demons of the chaos god, assisting in their path of destruction.

On the battlefield, the magus must be tactful to be useful. Placement of a pet, where it can be in range, but not killed quickly is key, as without the pet the magus really has lack-luster damage.

They are a ranged DPS class, but are heavily relient on the demon for dps.

Magus generally at least from what I've seen need to be a part of a group for effective RvR combat, and are best used defending points, much like an engineer.

The magus generally has to play at least somewhat defensively, because their pets cannot move, and make up for a significant portion of the magus' damage. The 3 second summons do allow for players to place them on the front lines, but be sure you aren't the only one in front when you do it, as the magus, and the pet are rather squishy.

In PvE, the magus is a decent damage dealer, it doesn't quite pack the punch, (at least at lower levels,) that other DPS classes seem to. The ability to know where the fight is, and place the pet accordingly is very nice, and helps the magus a lot.

This is the fourth of four, (for now,) time permitting I'd like to do this with most if not all of the classes, or all the destruction classes and tell you which order clases they line up with.

Any suggestions, or whatever will be taken into consideration. Thanks for watching.

Unlike previous videos, I didn't skip anything, it was short, because I didn't have a whole lot of footage. Sorry.

This is all shot in the first area in the Empire vs Chaos called "Nordland." it was all shot before I had gotten the Rank 10, Renown Rank 6 Armor and weapon set seen in yellow at the end of the video.

  • I wouldn't doubt it, they were a little better when I stopped playing, but wasn't sure on balance changes since.

  • I would recomend that you go engineer. As it is right now the eng is far superior to the magus.

  • Kind of, they both have a fair number of dots, but another source of lots of small numbers are their pets, which their damage is shared with. They both play and work about the same, but I prefer the engineer more personally. Both do exceptionally well in AoE situations, as most of their abilities affect everything around their intended target.

  • Whats the purpose of a magus/engineer? Are they the "Dot" class of this game? Don't seem to pull out big numbers. as in BIG hits but looks like in some videos they are just a major DOT class which if thats the case i think i will give them a try. I personally like the engineer more then teh magus so far. but reply to this and give me your thoughts.

  • Glad to hear it :-) I stopped playing Warhammer online for the time being, so I'm in a bit of a low in production right now.

  • damn i love youre vids...
