So on Earth Day we filled my BioPod Plus to the Brink, thanks to lots of fresh juice stands. As it been the beginning of spring we have been having small harvests every 5 to six hours. and I have been throwing them over my balcony so they can pupate and the colony can get a lot larger. The amazing this is that I added about 15 lbs of food waste on earth day and it's not starting to smell at all. Three days later they have already eaten an entire inch of food waste. I'd say they are eating 3 lbs a day right now. The grubs are absolutely going nuts and I have got really nice large white ones and they are keeping everything pretty aerated. You don't see any other flies. So the entire system is very very balanced. The reason this BioPod™ is so full is that it has 3 years of compost in it. If you don't know what you are doing you shouldn't ad 15 lbs of food waste in a day, but I'm pretty confident that in a few days we will see some awesome results.

  • you can buy the grubs or let them seed naturally from spring to end of summer.

  • So you only need to buy the larve once right ? do the onces that change to flies just breed in the pod ?

  • @Living4fishing If you know what you are doing they colonize naturally. check out

  • cool. composting with grubs. i'm having trouble educating idiots to leave nature alone, for the wildlife and for the good chi it provides for free, can't wait for them to be forced into accepting things like huge piles of compost covered in bugs.

  • Ya I figured that but the thing is i live in CT an that pretty much out of there natural range , but i wanted to see if i could get some an just keep an bread them in a green house , or even baement
