In this video, Brian Cowie, CEO of The Paper Mill Store, Inc. gives an overview of the envelope manufacturing process at National Envelope Manufacturing Plant in Appleton, WI.
@stoptripn Did you ever run an amc or a a php? I have operated a sheeter also, Only time I got my hands dirty was when the sheeter broke down and I had to fix it. Every one works hard, some more than others but it is honest work.I have never collected unemployment or welfare in my life. When my shop shut down I was hired by another envelope co the next day. I respect any kind of work that people do because they are working.
Well, you have me on the years. I quit after 20. Started on the wide ranges, went to the high speeds (527, 102 and etc.) ended up on the 249's. I was a supervisor most of those years. I DOUBT you worked harder or got your hands dirtier. It's a suck ass factory job...get over it.
@stoptripn I have worked for an envelope co. for 38 years. I have all my fingers and good hearing for my age. we wear eag plugs steel toe shoes and wrist bans. Our ears are tested each year at the plant. Most of us own our homes and drive late model cars. It is what america was built on hard working people. You must be young and do not like to get your hands dirty. From all of us in the envelope business to you, go to hell!

Just add in the loss of hearing, fingers and sanity and you almost have it.

It would be cool if we could actually see how it folded the envelopes, but still an interesting video.
