Meow the Feral is too Afraid to Come Out from Under the Bench

This is after feeding her two to three times a day. If I approach her directly, she will jump off the back and hide. So she will only come to me with the fence between us for protection. She is now the most affectionate cat of the seven I have known and sleeps for hours with me.

Meow stayed in hiding for four months, even though I would put food for her where she was hiding under the pool deck. Finally, she came out of hiding, and let me touch her, but only through the deck railing. This video is the second day she let me touch her Now she sleeps in my bed on my chest or lying next to me in full contact. After a full year, she is too feral to let me pick her up, but she loves being brushed.

aww... so cute! How did you tame her? Did you trap and then gradually got her used to you?

@Fotki2 She came on a record-setting 31 degree day, very unusual for Florida. She meowed frantically to my cat inside the sliding glass door, probably becz she was really cold and hungry. I ran out to give her food, but she ran to hide under the pool deck, so I left food and water there 3 times a day. She ate twice what my 2 cats ate, but she ate every scrap. After 4 months, she was sunning on the deck and let me touch her before running away.  This video is the second day.

my feral cats were wilder - I fed them for several years and they barely let me come within a few inches from them.
