I think the critics were morons because being "cliche" is the point of the movie, it is self aware and exploits the action movie genre: crappy one liners, survivable explosions, character stereotypes, cars that don't break during chases, etc.
This film is very tongue and cheek with sight gags and clever references and it's good to see that Arnold could make fun of himself.
Plus any movie that can make a joke about the Seventh Seal is a winner in my book. Also the sound track is awesome.

the movie was pure cliche, but I loved it since I was a kid so I can let it pass.
the soundtrack is a different story... Megadeth, AC/DC, Alice in Chains. I mean, don't you wish movie soundtracks were that badass?
