Windsurf Grundig Marathon South Coast of UK - Gale Force - 1980's

Early eighties (1983 or 1984) footage of one UK Windsurf stamina events sponsored by Grundig (TV company). This event took the top sailors mostly from UK and Europe to sail from Bournemouth to Brighton originally. The final race was cut short due to gale force conditions and ended in a figure of eight race for 40 miles. The boards used were special super light Mistral competition with foot straps. Sails were a Naish 6.0, 5.7 Take off Sail OR the 4.2 Pin head sail mostly seen in the video.

UK sailors include Dee Caldwell, Mike Todd, Graeme Fuller, Dave Cordell, Guy Farrant, Ben Oakley, Chris Jackson and Dave Perks. Other Countries were Jan Vannguard, Paul Meister, Marc Neuberg (France) and Fraser Black (Hawaii).
Loved to see someone else sail these boards today in Gale Force conditions for 40 miles!
