This is what Obama and Kevin Jennings want to make our schools safe for our children. They are fundamentally changing our society and they are doing it through our children. Sound the Alarm America!
Kind of sick to see how many people commenting here apparently endorse pedophilia, because Kevin Jennings does, yet some here actually refer to him as a "hero". Maybe they need to check out his background a little more.
So, Louesc, your objection to this is what? That the man is preaching tolerance and counseling teens to not take their lives because of the prejudice they've encountered? As a straight person who would like to think his life is influenced by the teachings of Jesus, I find this admirable. Perhaps you're so certain of the rectitude of your own behavior and of the lack thereof in those who are different than you that you can justify your own intolerance. I urge you to look deeper inside yourself.
@mpmcd81 actually what you just described is one of the many key flaws of Capitalism not Socialism, there is a reason why all the countries that top the list of happiest countries on Earth (we're 11th) and have been at the top of the list for several years are all socialist countries run by democratic parliment. the fact is most Americans (and I am a proud American) fail to see the flaw in the fact that we want to have our needs met but we also don't want to pay taxes; it's hypocrisy.
Kevin Jennings is a hero. Did you notice your hate diatribe is only visited by 2,265 people. WEAK. You totally lack relevance. Better to keep you ignorant fingers from typing and rotten mouth shut. It's haters like you that weakens America. Support American values of life, liberty and justice. Freeedom shall ring, and children shall be safe!
@mpmcd81 So is there something that people who don't like the direction the country is headed can do about it? Yes, there is. In America we have elections every four years. The Tea Party is doing something about it. In 2010, you will see what a grassroots movement is capable of accomplishing.
@mpmcd81 And if that happens, you'll see the US on a path toward fiscal responsibility rather than getting on the debt bandwagon that has landed half of the EU in financial ruins. In socialism, everybody wants everything but willingly pays nothing, and the government hasn't the political will to balance the budget and make people pay for what they get. Debt spirals and the country collapses. Currency takes a beating. Going socialist is not going to go over very well in the USA.
@ourorboros2 There's a big difference in degree. Obama has taken this country in a very socialist direction. Some people approve, but you're about to see in November how well people in the USA like what's going on. The Democrats are going to lose and lose big. They will certainly see the filibuster-proof majority they have gone. They may lose the senate depending on how the close senate races go down. They're certain to lose control of the house.
in fairness and truth you wont ever have the liberty you think you do, the government are in conrtrol and america much like england and australia are for the most part socialist. people seem to like that way and there isnt much you can do about it.
now i have to agree here, again, i dont know any of these books hes suggesting and i cant comment on them but i do agree that the government should have minimal control on a student ofcourse the problem is that while you may be a good parent lots of parents are unfit and would not teach their kids what they need to know about the world.
@mpmcd81 And when governments can force this reading list on students, as the Obama administration and Jennings would love to do, many of us in the USA feel that we are losing the liberties our ancestors fought to give us and preserve for us, and we feel that the liberties that Americans will still die for today to maintain are being stolen by our government. That, even more than the straight-gay issue, is what's at stake.
