Sakura by Toru Takemitsu, Japan Performed by Meridian Junior College Choir (Singapore) Conducted by Mr Foong Hak Luen Grand Finals, Overall 2nd Place Festival of Songs 2008 - Olomouc, Czech Republic
it would've been nice if they experimented with crescendo & decrescendo... i think... creating that sort of eerie feel... and the difference in the dynamics are not that visible too...
Sops lack resonance and the sound is too dark.

the soprano, especially in the intro and outro, tends to be too dominant, killing the balance of the chord...

if there's more softness in the dynamics and vocal projection, and perhaps the chord system is more traditional-Japanese sounding...

This has always been one of my favourite choral pieces because its beautiful chords. The choir did justice to this song.
HOWEVER, I do not like the Sops tone. Sounds too pushy.

a commendable effort, but i don't think the choir and the interpretation accurately depicted the beauty and fragility of the sakura flower.
