From www.diyphotobits.com see how to use Windows Explorer to remotely control your camera. In this video I'm using Windows XP and a Nikon D300 and getting the effect of a remote shutter release, or shutter release cable, by using usb cable instead.

  • I bet you can use the camera scanner wizard to automatically import the images and just use bridge or lightroom to preview. Just minimize the windows camera wizard box and leave bridge open.

  • Nikon Camera Control pro will do what you want plus write directly to your PC rather than to the card
