you do realize that your very argument, is the exact definition of "god of the gaps."
-
god of the gaps isn't an atheist argument anyway. it's a responce to when christians point to a gap in the fossle record, or some simular scenario.

@5thWatcher Oh, what a pitty that religion gives neither of those 2.
Religion is blind faith of almost disproved facts. Religion is Mythology.

The "god of the gaps" argument is not an atheist argument, but a theist argument which is very often used by Christians, Muslims, et cetera. There is only one way to disprove atheism and that is simply providing evidence for the existence of any god. Thus far no one has ever been able to do so however, let alone provide evidence for the existence of any specific god. Every religion is based on faith alone, not on evidence. Your religion is therefore just as valid as any other religion.

"I found a ball in my drawer. God put it there."
"Oh, you're mistaken, I put it there."
"Wow, isn't it amazing how god made you put the ball there?"
God of the gaps is the one true god.

also... if you do believe in science then explain half lives? they show the world is much older then 6000 years old
-
its funny....
you say that we can come back after you "smash" our ideas, with improved ones to just "smash" again, yet you probably just did the exact same thing, in fact you've improved you point to the point that you have left Christianity, you've became a Deist, so congrates, you're one step closer to Atheism

If you are being satirical, then you are hilarious. If you are completely serious, then I don't get it. The God of the gaps argument is an argument theists use when they say, "How'd the moon get there, you can't explain that, therefore god must have done it!' Using God to fill in the gap of our knowledge. Once science understands how the moon got there, the gap is filled and god gets retreated to smaller and smaller gaps. If/when science explains everything, there is no room left for god.

"We have not created anything." I think you need to stay off the LSD... and stop watching so much William Shatner.
-
It's been said before but, this is a perfect example of a God of the Gaps arguement. I think a lot of Atheists will be wondering is how do you get from "Devine being that created the Universe" to "Talking snakes, immaculate conceptions, walking on water & fish into chicken" or whatever.
2nd. People used to say this & that... but so does the Bible. It says the earth was flat, light came before the sun & the earth before the stars etc. AND IT'S WRONG so how can a devinely inspired book be wrong?

@5thWatcher Ah so everything needs a reason? That's rather presumptuous. Or is it that you just want everything to have a reason? A purpose? Wanting it and proving it true are two different things.
Then your deity is pointless. Why worship it? Why is it necessary, if we can explain things without your deity?

@bgiv2010 explanation ≠ reason

"we have not created anything"
.. are you serious? so it doesn't matter what kind of artist you are, bach, beethoven, picasso, monet, no one creates anything unless it's a planet/universe?
I understand that you're saying that "God created it all and we're just playing the notes of his song as we find them", however, didn't God create us in his image? Should we not be able to create as well?

@omgwtfbbqalekx No, we can only re-constitute existing material. The only thing we can truly create is an idea.

@davemcd85 No, I'm for real, but I know it's hard to tell because I went overboard in this video with the expresive hand movements. Check out my follow-up to this video. I think I link to it at the end.
