This movie is a homage to the classic red harvest story, which is also used in Kurosawas Yojimbo and fist full of dollars. As trustkill said, it's intended. The movie kicks so much ass anyway so it doesn't really matter imo.

It has the same Theme as "Fist full of dollars" and "Yojimbo"...Same story, different theme and era...This was intended.
