Opera in Pop Culture: Gossip Girl & "The Magic Flute" & Ring Cycle

In Season 2, Episode 16 ("You've Got Yale!") of GOSSIP GIRL, the main characters attend a production of "The Magic Flute," and opera is mentioned throughout the episode. In these clips, the anonymous Gossip Girl compares the drama of the main characters to Mozart's "Magic Flute"; Dan and Nate talk about going to the opera, and make reference to Wagner's Ring Cycle; and Eric breaks down "The Magic Flute" to opera newbie Rufus, while they listen to the Queen of the Night's aria "Der Hölle Rache kocht in meinem Herzen."
