This tutorial focuses on creating a rigging system for a bone system of a simple 3D character. This first tutorial covers how to rig the feet and toes, and create a foot roll for a walk cycle. Using IK Solvers and Wire Parameters, I create a basic foot rig.

I apologize the video quality is not great, I plan to re-record these videos soon. Rate and Subscribe for more information about design software programs and animation.

  • you should record with a greater image, not everyone can understand your accent, and clear images are great help in fornt of that missunderstanding.

  • @magicortega Its a computer issue. I need more RAM to get the ball rolling here. Using a laptop to record these videos.

  • Thanks for the info. Didn't think I had an accent. South Philly or East Coast US?

  • The twitching and the music makes me want to suicide.

  • @UerMom You mean to commit suicide. Working on it.

  • I cant see my IK Chains in order to link them and continue... how did you get the crosses on the IK Chain sections?

  • @JustaFreak15 They are visible once you add them to you scene. Check your visibility preferences and make sure you can view 2D shapes, try working in your perspective view for the best sight, and make sure everything is hidden except for other objects and maybe your skin. But they should appear right when you place them. Sounds like a system preference problem.

  • HOW YOU CREATED HELPERS PLEASE HELP!

  • You people are ridiculous, if you don't like his video then find another one, it's truly THAT simple-- there's absolutely no reason to be a dick. Jon, thank you for your videos.. I'm a Game Design major graduating soon and needed a refresher in all this and am following your whole set to create a bone system, and rig and skin my character and haven't had any problems so far, so I personally really appreciate you taking the time to record all of these for public use. Keep up the good work!

  • foot what? foot corol???

  • @PesteleViteaz then y don't u fucking tutor ya cunt!

  • you are the most terrible tutor i have ever seen in my entire life! GOD!

  • @JustaFreak15 i had the some probnlem with the invisible ik solvers be sure to look in the display window to see if they're not hidden

    hope this helps

  • Also, in the Reaction Manager, where you have those buttons "1, 2 & 3". Mine goes all the way up to 6... whats going on on?

  • 7:56 I dont have a "middle IK solver" because I didn't add toe bones to my skeleton, only a foot and a foot-nub. When you ask us to rotate that solver, I click the IK Solver on the end of the foot bone (since I only have 2 solvers on each leg), then go to rotate it, but nothing happens. I can rotate in any other axis, but not the correct axis (The X axis). What am I supposed to do now? I can continue with the tutorial! Help me out!!!

  • I've got another question if anybody can answer. When using these IK Solvers on the legs, it prevents you from using the rotate tool on any of the bones. I have the IK solvers working, but I cant rotate the leg bones anymore. How do I fix this?

  • I know this is years out of date, but my character has scrawny legs thats are straight (not enough space to add a bend in the knee joint without protrusions). What should I do about that? Anybody?
