  • Nothing like a grease pot! Good video. Stove works pretty good. You can bring your boil time down a little by painting the bottom of the grease pot black. Might help to have a wind screen for better flame control. I like what you have come up with. Hope you get a lot of use out of it, and cook some great outdoor meals while out and about with nature.

  • I really like this stove but I feel it needs to be tested a little more. It was very windy today and I should have had a windscreen that's for sure. When Thanks Drak for the suggestions, I never thought about painting my pans black, they always seem to turn black on their own ;)

  • Nice video, what did you start the wood stove with? See if you can come up with a way to control the flame to some extent.

  • good question. I used jute twine cut up in 1 inch strips a little white birch bark and alot of basswood shavings from my wood carving projects.I definately will use the advice of NCHiker1970 by painting the bottom of the pot black and adding a windscreen too.

  • I find that the pot takes in more heat if the bottom is painted black. I did an experiment awhile back with two of the same style pots one with the bottom part of it painted and my boil time was always lower with the pot that had a painted bottom.

  • What's the idea behind painting pans black? Wouldn't that only help if you were doing some sort of solar cooking? I would have thought that clean metal would give you the best heat conductivity. I definitely agree about the windscreen. Nice work :o)

  • This is a good channel for all your camping and survival stuff. I really like this vid, not just because I like fire. It's clear and cool. Totally dig it.

  • Very cool stove, I made a copy of jim faulks quart paint can size, this weekend I am going to make one from a gallon can like yours. very cool.

  • Good ole' grease pot cooking! Nice work. Peace.
