i think it is depressing that we are not shocked by rape scenes. i saw irreversible in the theater and had to leave during the rape scene. it is not a porno, it is two actors simulating a very real and very violent occurrence that happens all the time. a horrible crime with a victim, not stuff to get off to. I don't think movies like this should be banned but i do wish people were still shcokable, not so desensitized by what porn is doing to our society.

@camantonio You should be more shocked when you hear that someone has been raped in real life not when you see it in a film. Film is a reflection of society. Irreversible was a masterpiece of cinema. I never understood how someone can be shocked by a violent scene in a movie but not shocked when they see images of war on the news.

i thought this film was terrible - found it rated one of the best french horrors of the decade in the same list as films such as martyrs - absolutely no comparison. Boring and pointless

@Johnlindsey289 I've seen Cannibal Holocaust (depressing but nice music), Salo (puke-inducing nastiness), Henry (chilling), Martyrs (I hate all the woman-beating), but A Serbian Film takes the biscuit. Truly the most gross and sickening thing I've ever come across. It's like getting sucked into Hell. Just mentioning it brings back traumatic images and I never want to watch it again.

So says the fan of New York Ripper, that was a truly horrifying film with such disgusting images including sexual torture. What do you think of In a Glass Cage, The Untold Story, Men Behind The Sun, Hostel 1 & 2, Cannibal Ferox, Cannibal Holocaust, Caligula, Salo, Henry Portrait of a Serial Killer, I Spit on Your Grave (1978), Beyond The Darkness, Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer, Serbian Film (I refuse to see this one), Martyrs, Ichi The Killer etc.?

what's so different about this movie than say Natural Born Killers which was more consistently graphically and reaslistically violent that this one? The weakBoys at the censorship bureau just didn't wanna see females doing it. And they also don't wanna confrotn teh narrative behind the acts of violence. This movie is more than just the violence depicted. That's why it is shocking and why it should NOT be censored. PLus it's a rare angry film made by women. Period. End of convo.
