@laservader1 depending which controller you are useing , but with the hornby or anyone elses there should be an instuction book on how to change the cv`s I use my elite for this and with the sound not sure but I think it is cv 63? and then mine loco came set at 60 so I reduced to 30 which is half and it sounded perfect , if you find too difficult try your local model rail shop, they usually can do ,or put you on to who will do it

Go on CV then CV write, 63 then about 20 is low enough. (if you have Hornby Elite)

i t is too loud you have to set the cv for sound lower, but when at correct level they sound good.

yes it is a lot better then the 20 but the 20 is louder and the 37 hardley makes a sound
