Here is a video of Hunter struggling to communicate that he wants to get onto the couch. Then it leads to a zone out after. He struggles with motor planning. This is an ex of a motor planning issue and him suddenly being unable to climb up himself and verbally communcate his needs clearly. All he can do it bump against couch and make a noise to indicate he wants up.

  • omg this is exactly like my daughter. She's speech delayed, and zones out like that. It's very hard to communicate with her. Was he diagnosed with autism? or anything else. We've been told everything from hearing loss to autism to simple lack of social simulation. We're so lost.

  • @sakitakono Have you seen a Developmental Ped? Hunter was DX w/Autism Spectrum Disorder. Early Intervention has been WONDERFUL in helping him :) Hearing loss can be confirmed w/a pediatric audioligist. And those w/ASD also often struggle w/Sensory Processing Disorder & Central Processing Disorder. CPD can mimic hearing loss. I'd def see some specialists. ((hugs)) Check out my blog thegiftofasd dot blogspot dot com :) PM me if you want, I am happy to chat more privately if you'd like

  • How does Hunter communicate with you without the tube playing? I think Hunter is like many husbands when the super bowl is playing, deaf or unwilling to communicate. Maybe less TV when you're trying to engage in a conversation. Just a thought.

  • @liam1433 He was NOT looking at the TV when he was zoning. You can hear it but when his eyes fade out they werent on it. His blank stares are also often done when a TV isnt even around. Hunter has autism and many various struggles. He struggles with motorplanning greatly. I assume you dont know much about autism. I have 5 therapists in this house 4 days a week, if the TV was the issue they would know it.

  • Thankyou for sharing these videos. I have seen a lot of the same types of actions with my daughter.....but whenever I came across this one the blankness whenever you call his name is what I recognize the most. and its so hard to relate to a lot of the video's on autism because many are so severe.

  • @CKAL26 (((hugs))) So glad to help, so many think of the classic and severe cases when thinking of autism. They dont realize the high functioning or mild cases look a bit differently. That is why it is actually called autism spectrum disorder. So glad it helped :)

  • es un rollazo :(

  • I was diagnosed at age 6. I clearly remember that zone staring and sometimes even being 48 I still do it. It is just a moment of peace. If I zone out long enough I start to enter my own world and everything around fades out.

I can't understand why NT people can't do it as it is a very peaceful moment.

I hope the world has changed. Growing up so many teachers called me stupid..

Auttisim can casuse some to be very inteligent. Autism is beatiful.

  • At the very least he is giving eye contact, and attempting sounds that are his way of communicating.

  • In this video Hunter does everything our son did when he was at that age. We still see many of the symptoms even though he is almost 7. Have you guys had any specific diagnosis?

  • How old is Hunter in this video? Our 2 1/2 year old son acts exactly like this. He is seeing a therapist for a diagnosis in a few weeks. He communicates through grunts and hand motions, however, he is very coordinated, so we don't know exactly what may be wrong. Perhaps a mild form of autism. Thank you for sharing these.
