This is my first upload to YouTube in quite a while. My father-in-law has been very sick for over a year now, and most of my time is consumed with his care. However, I thought that I would begin again with the brilliant (brilliantly composed, that is--not necessarily sung) aria from the last act of Handel's Rinaldo. I hope that you enjoy my humble and imperfect attempt!

  • Autodidact like alfred deller. It's really amazing

  • stunning! an orchestra should pay you.....

  • sounds also like its done in a higher key. i wish the bottom were stronger, otherwise bravo. I agree if you live in an area where you can find someone to teach you and not harm your voice, go for it! you have goods instincts that will carry you, but do find a teacher

  • you sing it great! i want to sing like you! congrats!

  • Great aria and amazing singing!

  • So, I've been listening to few of your videos now and on Come Raggio di Sol, I was like...... this has to be a recording... wait no. This guy just rocks countertenor. I really do agree with the other comments that I would love to see you get some professional training and hit the big stage. Ach, but a man can only dream. Very well done sir.

  • bravissimo!!!

  • To be fair, considering you're an amateur, awesome job!

That said, it may be a little too florid for you.. the articulation of the melismi is sometimes blurry while other times is perfect.

Your "abuse" of embellishments that modify the melodic line does nothing but make you lose pitch because in order to keep up you rush and you exhale air losing the appoggio.

Practice the aria unornamented and then add ornaments little by little.

But again, awesome for an amateur! Thumb up from me!

  • Very Nice Job!! Wish you could be out there doing this publicly I would certainly pay to hear you sing! You have a very good technique!!
