@avanro7101 Hi I just bought some silver american eagles 1986 and I noticed that my coins don't have the mint sign under the olive branch. Just wondering why.

If it's a proof, don't even touch it with the towel. Leave it in it's plastic case. If it's bullion, then who cares. Touch it all you like.

Touching them won't devalue them. People seal them to prevent tarnishing, which is really only an aesthetic problem.
It doesn't undermine the price value unless you detarnish it with an abrasive rather than with electrolysis. The latter merely reverses the oxidation reaction of the silver in the coin, so doesn't change the intrinsic silver content.

Britannias are much more attractive, but sadly they're only 958 purity.
