You know, Harley, instead of playing the village idiot part for the fruitarian cause, you could reinvent yourself by crusading against the real causes of obesity and chronic disease - junk food and drink. Take a page from Jamie Oliver's "book" so to speak. Be a source of positive vibes for real food instead of criticising Taubes and others who are themselves trying to make a difference in their own way.

first-the fruits we eat today have been selected to be sweeter and sweeter, so eating wild berries will not be as strenuous to our metabolism.
second- we evolved to eat fruit when it was fruiting, a few weeks per year, so in that period of time insulin and leptin could manage advanced glycation end products and the hormonal imbalances associated with glycolosis. This is no longer the case in our carbo-culture.
