This is my M.A.M.E. Arcade Cabinet that is currently a work in progress. I have about 7 hours into the build from the cabinet to the software. Next plans are to hide the keyboard with a removable or sliding panel. I've spent countless hours playing this machine with no problems and I'm very happy with it. This is my first build.

Cabinet - Xtension Tower Arcade Cabinet
Computer - Dell Inspiron E1505 Laptop (XP)
Screen - Acer AL2216W (22")
Sound - Philips MMS171-PC 2.1 Multimedia Speaker System
Controls - X-Arcade Tankstick + Trackball
GUI - MAMEUI32
Other - Logitech G15 Keyboard, Sharp SPC106 Blue Lit Clock

I've always wanted a Home Network Server too but wanted a MAME Arcade Cabinet even more. One bad thing about a HNS is where will you store the hardware? How about make a dual purpose MAME Arcade Cabinet? Perfect! So that will be my next project. The parts coming out of my custom built PCs that are being updated with new hardware will be used to rebuild this MAME Arcade Cabinet / Home Network Server.

Here is a list of some of that out-dated hardware going into the build.

EVGA 790i Motherboard
Super Talent SDRAM DDR3 1800
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0GHz 65W Dual-Core Processor
EVGA 8600 GTS Video Card
- and more to come

Any questions? Just ask.

  • How loud are the speakers you have in this cabinet and do they have a subwoofer?

  • @piscesdreams1023 the sound system can get pretty loud and the subwoofer adds a nice touch of bass to go along with it.

  • NICE BUT A TFT SCREEN WTF

  • @Ganbareg I thought about that to and the thing is when the TFT monitor goes out its a lot cheaper and easier to replace than a CRT. I can assure you the games are just as fun as they are in the arcades and from what you can tell from the cabinet I'm in it for the fun and not authenticity. Everyone that comes to my house loves it.

  • Dude dud u finally get something to hide the keyboard n if u do

Please post. I ordered this cabinet but with the arcade classics grafx. One more question. What type of speakers did u put on your cabinet. Is there enough space to put some nice computer speakers. I haven't gotten my cabinet was just curious. Is there anyway we can make our cabinet glow from the marquee or not. Let me know some ideas. Thanks.

  • Still trying to come up with a nice clean design to cover the keyboard. Thought about using plexiglass to make a bezel for the monitor with a swing out door for easy access to the keyboard. There is plenty of room for some nice speakers. "Philips MMS171-PC 2.1 Multimedia Speaker System" is what I'm using for sound and they fit perfectly and sound great! The description panel to the right has a complete list of everything I have in the cabinet as of now.
