    Wenn du auf den unglaublich strohdummen Humor von Atze Schröder, Ingo Appelt & Co. stehst, dann wäre Loriot aber auch in den 80ern nichts für dich gewesen.

    You are absolutely right. The German comedians of today (or those who regard themselves to be one) don't even reach a fraction of Loriot! He was able to illustrate the irony of everyone's everyday life in an unbeatable intelligent manner. Anyway, I wonder if he was popular outside of Germany at all? I think his kind of humour was too German as that he could succeed in English languange countries as well. But I don't know.

    Übrigens sind die Tittenbalken nicht konsequent angebracht (die im Original übrigens gar nicht da sind).

    Loriot: The only German comedian ever who could compete with the best from Britain and the US. This is just pure genius. Loriots sketches never work on just the one level, they are so much more complex and you can always discover something new in them. And everything is satire of what we Germans are like. Some of us, of course, don't find that funny. Which shows how right he was.
