Wong How Man is founder and President of the China Exploration & Research Society (CERS). Named by Time Magazine as one of their 25 Asian Heroes, he is widely regarded to be Chinas most accomplished explorer. In a career spanning thirty years Wong How Man has made many important discoveries including the source of the Yangtze River. In 1986, he founded the CERS, which expanded his exploration work to include the conservation of Chinas natural and cultural heritage. Today CERS is engaged in numerous important projects, ranging from the protection of endangered species, like the black-necked crane and the snub-nosed monkey, through to the preservation of ancient monuments and supporting the heritage of indigenous tribes, such as, the Lisu and Moso.
Land Rover supports the work of the CERS as part of our Fragile Earth commitment. We also sponsor four other international conservation organisations: The Born Free Foundation, Earthwatch Institute, The Royal Geographical Society with IBG, Biosphere Expeditions.
