Once used only on "expensive" cattle, embryo transfer is now commonly used in many herds as an improvement strategy. Students will be introduced to each step of the embryo transfer process:
· Administering hormones to induce super ovulation
· Egg fertilization and embryo growth
· Embryo collection from the mother cow
· Washing, preparing and freezing the embryo
· Shipping and storage
· Thawing procedures
· Placement of the embryo into the recipient cow
