Join the ex-Marine (husband, Steve) and Travels With Sheila as we "chill out" at the Kirkenes SnowHotel, also referred to as an "Ice Hotel"...aptly named!
For most people, this is not only a once-in-a-lifetime adventure, but also an expensive once-in-a-lifetime adventure. Think hundreds of dollars for one night.
Picked up from the Rica Arctic Hotel in Kirkenes at 6 p.m., a full group carrying only enough "stuff" for one night was transferred 6km/3.5 miles outside of town to the Kirkenes SnowHotel. We crunched our way over the hard-packed snow and entered the SnowHotel, ready to experience -4 Celsius/24 Fahrenheit Temperatures. That should either get the blood moving or congealed!
What a strange choice of word:
Errie:
'a. Inspiring inexplicable fear, dread, or uneasiness; strange and frightening.
b. Suggestive of the supernatural; mysterious.'
It's beautiful, peaceful, sweet, enchanting, spectacular, inspiring, cosy, womb-like - it's all those things and more.
But never eerie...
