Loved this film when I was in my early teens! Was, and still am a big fan.
At a Royal Variety performance back in the 50s, he told in his book of same name, how the snobby audience of rich people didn't clap when he had finished his rock 'n' roll songs, as it was a new thing, so the Queen Mum put her hands over the royal box and clapped, so then everyone followed suit when they saw her clapping. He said he was forever grateful to her.
He went on to be an all-round family entertainer!

Tommy Steele the wild, wild rocker. Who would have thought it? It was thought at the time that Rock and Roll wouldn't last, so he moved on to other things.
