Sheriff Takes Aim at Prostitution on Craigslist

The sheriff of Cook County in Illinois has filed a federal lawsuit against Craigslist. Sheriff Tom Dart says the online classified ads site promotes prostitution on a massive scale. (March 5)

Suing Craigslist isn't going to solve anything. There are 100s of 'ad websites', most of which are not even located in the USA. Why are women forced into becoming prostitutes? Look for the real cause of a problem, instead of just fixing one symptom.

Anybody knows how to contact that asshole sheriff??, its so ridiculous how he attacks consenting adults work. its like me demonizing people who drink alcohol in their entirety, because of abuses, because of people underage drinking, or accidents to alcohol consumption. He should go to Europe and see how in a legalized system, where they don't legislate morality, there is less crime associated with prostitution

Criminalizing prostitution because some people are forced into it is like criminalizing any other line of work because some slaves are forced into it. Only the slavery is immoral, not the line of work.

And the women leaving her kids unsupervised was a really ridiculous argument. That is not a problem of prostitution, just a woman being irresponsible.

i worked for a new york newspaper that had a bigger prostitution section in their classified ads. They had to come into my office and pay cash by law and all the newspaper employees knew they were hookers. I enjoyed talking to them, they were nice. One time, i had some of these business women in my office and governor spitzer walks by and i thought to myself that he's so stupid not to know of this practice and we all know how that turned out. haha
