I would try Abre Los Ojos, the original of Vanilla Sky. Oh, als look up err, "Die Fette Jahre Sind Forbei" (spelling may not be 100%).
All these films I've "bumped into" on BBC 4 at some point and they are amazing, including Der Krieger...

I remember way back in 2001 when i first saw this. Due to being in Australia it was released around the same time as the first Harry Potter. So i was the only one in the cinema it was GREAT... Saw it 4 times
