  • Love this. Gonna see the Straits on tour in the UK in October. Brilliant.

  • Even though this isn't Dire Straits and I think we all wish it was... It's a great performance and at the end of the day it was never advertised as Dire Straits. I'm a 17 year old lad and I have grown up with Dire Straits's and MK's music. I have never had the privilage of watching DS, however I'm going with my Dad to watch The Straits in Manchester in October and I can't wait. These guys are bringing back many happy nostalgic memories and also promoting DS brilliant music. Quit hating!

  • @gvt63 yeah from what I heard about his attitude towards it it was far from likely.

Didn't wanna put an arrogant comment though!

  • @magicelliotth a rather bad source apparently.... double checked with the people in the know and it was someone else... ha ha lol

  • @Composerchap it's good you removed you comment as i didn't make any sense at all, they can play whatever the want as long as they don't mislead people that DS is back!! DS would be back when MK says so! Besides, it' rather ridiculous that these guys announce themselves as DS members (only Alan Clark was the official DS member, the rest are jus session musicians) it was supposed to be just one charity gig, now they announce other dates (easy money on someone else's career -and that's disgusting

  • @gvt63 He went to one of the warm up gigs in chelsea?

errrm are you sure about that?

It's quite possible just wondering where you got that information from

  • @gvt63 I know nothing about Knopfler's presence at the concert in Chelsea, everything would be fine if they have advertised this event as a DS tribute band (cose that' what it is)), talking about the way DS songs used to be played -it was entirely up to Knopfler, he wanted them to be played that way, and it altered throughout the years but the point is that playing these Knopfler's songs without MK, just immitating him doesn't make sense at all unless it's a tribute band, no DS without MK. Amen

  • @ekstradycja disgraceful? Oooh wHaTeVeR!! MK gave them his blessing, even went to one of the warm up gigs at Chelsea. It is heart warming that you feel the need to protect MK and his songs so repeatedly and excessively, but really love, people wanting to hear Straits songs played the way they used to be played, this is for them. People who love MK and only MK and how his music has progressed, go and see MK. You need to caaaalm down, you are looking like a twat.

  • @gvt63 this is the point -they shouldn't have done if MK said NO, this was his band, his songs DS is MK. The whole idea without MK is just pathetic and disgraceful unless it's just another DS tribute band which is ok then, these are all Knopfler's songs and that was Knopfler's band after all, those poor tossers were just session musicians rented by Knopfler fot tour or studio recordings. I can't stand these idiots!!!

  • @gvt63 the thing is they shouldn't have done if MK said NO He is DS and that's it!! The whole idea to play it without MK is just pathetic and disgraceful unless it's just another DS tribute band which is ok, these are all MK's songs after all!
